HEAD KAIAKO - OVER 2'S

With Ngāti Porou and Ngāti Tahu roots through my Mama, I am also lucky enough to whakapapa to Ngai Tamanuhiri through my Dad who has raised me since I was 3yrs old.

The oldest of three, I have been often referred to as the stubborn, know-it-all boss of the family but I would like to think instead that I’m passionate and vocal!

Motherhood has driven me to cherish a well-balanced sense of life, daily rhythm and laughter; and hope to represent these values in everything I do.

I have two beautiful babies to keep me focused and the most supportive future husband, all of who reminds me daily to value my Māori culture and challenge the status quo always.

LYN

COOK/UNQUALIFIED KAIAKO

Hi there,

My name is Lyn Oates, born in Uawa, I moved to here when I was a child, married to a coastie with two children. I’ve worked in ECE for 12 years, previously with the babies and started relieving at Bizzy Bodz which ended up with my role in the kitchen.

You will also see me sometimes on the floor with the Tamariki.

Kiaora,

Ko Koka Tarn tōku ingoa

Kei te mahi ana ahau ki roto tēnei mahi kōhungahunga mo ngā tau rua tēkau ma rima.

I enjoy working and supporting our tamariki, they are our future therefore early childhood education is the perfect place to develop their minds and prepare them for their next journey onto primary school.

KAYLA

U.Q. KAIAKO - OVER 2'S

Kia Ora,

My name is Kayla Wells and I am born and bred in Gisborne. I have my bachelor in Primary teaching which I completed in Hamilton. I am a proud Mumma to a 10-month-old baby boy.

I started off relieving at Bizzy Bodz before taking up the roll as admin. You will sometimes see me on the floor with the tamariki which I enjoy interacting with them and watching them grow.

NINA

Q. KAIAKO - OVER 2'S

Kia ora koutou, I am Nina Tarei.  Growing up in Mahia and Wairoa with the beaches close by and the strong sense of community, Gisborne became a natural choice for my husband and I to settle and raise our 4 tamariki.

I believe in the magic of childhood alongside the importance of education. Life happens too fast and our kids grow up too fast. I want to work alongside the children and help guide them to see all the wonder and magic in life, in nature, in others and most importantly, themselves. I also believe that a strong foundation of skills and values for children heading to primary school, will help set them up for their future learning, and have a passion for ensuring that tamariki are going to be ready for learning beyond Bizzy Bodz.

I look forward to working with whanau to find out what the dreams and aspirations for your child’s learning is and to work alongside you to help that happen.

ANDY

Q. KAIAKO - OVER 2'S

I moved from Hamilton back to Gisborne 2yrs ago to be closer to my family. I did my early education in Gisborne where I went to Waikirikiri primary, Upminster Intermediate and G.G.H.S.

I am a fully registered teacher having been in ECE for over 35 years and have never wanted to do anything other than educating pre-schoolers.

I have an adult son who lives in Auckland and I have raised him on my own, an accomplishment I am extremely proud of. I love my home, my garden and walking my dog.

Thank you for this opportunity to work alongside you all in our children grow and thrive at Bizzy Bodz.

TASH

Q. KAIAKO - UNDER 2'S

Hi Bizzy Bodz whanau, my name is Tash.

I am excited to start this journey as a new pepi kaiako with you.  I grew up here in Gizzy with my Mum, Dad and my three sisters. I love Gizzy; with our beaches, rivers, forests and farms, so when I found out I was hapu I left the Waikato, where I was studying, to come home to my family. Fortunately, I was able to complete my last few papers here with my brand-new baby. I have two little ones of my own, Milah and Indy. They are brilliant!

I have been involved in the education and care of children for the last 15 years and hope to bring to Bizzy Bodz what I want for my own children. A place that is loving, warm, peaceful and with lots of opportunities to inspire joy and wonder.  I would love to hear your thoughts on what is important for your littlest loves so please let me know so we can incorporate it into our curriculum.

Ko Pauline Downing ahau

I am one of the new faces in the Centre and have enjoyed being a part of the Bizzy Bodz team, nurturing your child’s love for learning.

I completed my full registration in 2016 after graduating from Canterbury in December 2012. I taught in Primary for a year, then moved to ECE where I discovered a passion for early childhood learners and the enthusiasm they have for life. I enjoy guiding them as they explore the world around them while discovering what their interests are and how to tap into them. Building meaningful relationships with children and their families is important to me and I look forward to getting to know you in the months ahead.
