This Ruma is a dedicated space created to nurture our littlest Bizzy Bodz.​

Ko Wai Au sits firmly in the centre of our curriculum as we understand that quality relationships with our pepi and their whanau provide the foundation for our infants to thrive. Kaiako will be actively engaged in discovering who your child is through respectful, responsive interactions, careful observation and continued research.

The environment has been purposefully designed to cater to our pepi’s individual routines within the larger rhythm of Bizzy Bodz.

There will be time to interact within our own space which is arranged to encourage active engagement with strong links to the natural world and also time to connect with our older whanau during karakia.

Together we aim to instill in our pepi the vision of Te Whariki (2107) where tamariki are seen competent and confident learners and communicators, healthy in mind, body and spirit, secure in their sense of belonging and in the knowledge that they make a valued contribution to society.

This area is a shared space for our tamariki 2 years to 5-6 years old.

The curriculum is child lead following individual planning programmes that ensure our tamariki get equal and equitable learning opportunities.

These programmes are specifically designed to further support learning outcomes guided in Aotearoa’s Early Childhood Curriculum, Te Whaariki and the three critical learning areas of our philosophy: Ko wai au, Communication and Resilience.

These critical learning areas allow teachers to plan and assess learning, in collaboration with tamariki and whanau, in a relationship-based lens where identity, independent and interdependent strengths are observed at an individual capacity.

A big part of what we do is to allow Tamariki to establish a strong sense of identity. We acknowledge their achievements and encourage them, to discover their interests and build on them.

In an environment purposefully facilitated to meet the needs of our tamariki, our roopu thrive on a range of resources that endorse the various areas of play. This allows learning to occur in a space and pace suitable for individual wants and needs. Our routines and rituals also promote kaupapa Maori where the centre gather for karakia timatanga me karakia whakamutunga to open and close our learning days, continuing to integrate te reo Maori me ona tikanga into kai times and play opportunities.

Bizzy Bodz Gisborne also aspire to develop iwi-based learning through local purakau highlighting the important taonga of the Tairawhiti region.

Here at Bizzy Bodz Gisborne we want to make sure that all our children are prepared and ready to go to school as possible.

On a Tuesday we have lunch box day for our 4 year old's. This involves our lovely cook making healthy lunchboxes for our tamariki to enjoy during our morning tea and lunchtime.

When the children turn 4 they let our cook know what sandwich’s they like so that she can prepare them for them. This gives the children a chance to experience what it will be like when they go to school and take their own lunchbox.

We have built positive relationships with our local schools to see how their schools work and what we need to do to make sure that we are preparing our tamariki as best as we can.

Through our individual planning programmes we ensure that our tamariki are equipped and ready to transition to school. This, of course, is in partnership with parents and whanau, ensuring to collaborate and integrate the aspirations you have for your tamaiti.

Combined with a range of resources and routines in place, our programme thrives on ensuring our tamariki are prepared to take the next step in their learning journey.
